Robotics MS – FLL Competition - STEM
The FLL is a world-renowned competition which has been developed to encourage and foster STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) in the 9-14 year old age group. For this inaugural competition, we are going to combine instruction time within the normal curriculum in the MS Robotics class with a further hour of extra-curricular work on Thursdays. Students who are not in the MS Robotics class but who want to be involved can join the afterschool sessions. This is an excellent opportunity to get involved in something that is not only educational, but also great fun. The work is fully student-driven. The FLL competition does NOT just consist of building Lego robots; the students also have to prepare a presentation on a given topic (which changes every year: this year it is ‘Education Unleashed’ - innovative ways to change learning) and have to show that they follow and exhibit the FLL Core Values (excellent guidelines promoting team values and helping each other). Blended Learning
The use of technology to enhance student learning is at the center of our learning community. Blended Learning is revolutionizing every classroom in the Middle School. With the implementation of the Bring Your Own Device Program we have created an environment where technology is not simply replacing hardcover books but instead enriching students learning experience fully. Using the SAMR model we are moving forward from using technology to enhance learning to the transformation, modification and the creation of tasks previously inconceivable. |
