![]() I am extremely happy to be able to write a letter of recommendation for Mr. Nicolaas Mostert. I have worked with Nicolaas as the Secondary and College Counselor and later as Dean of Students-Assistant Principal in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Later our paths cross again and we are both currently working at the Carol Morgan School of Santo Domingo. I have known and worked with Nicolaas now for over 6 years and he continues to impress me with his professionalism, amazing relationships with both students and staff, and his global vision. His exemplary character personifies that which we look to teach our own students including having a high degree of integrity, respect, a passion to learn, and always striving for excellence.
Nicolaas has a very diverse work history with time spent in the Dominican Republic, Bolivia, South Africa, and the United States. His open mindedness and respect for other cultures and people, as well as his quest for equality and safety for all students is a true measure of him being well traveled. Nicolaas achieves great results not only due to his great skills but also from his ability to use the resources around him and collaborate with other staff. He has a remarkable ability to work collaboratively with others, and to get others around him excited and motivated for whatever task is at hand. At every turn he seems to be either working with teachers, students, parents or other administrative staff to make school a better place. His ability to listen to others, engage others to make the positive changes they want to see, combined with his educational knowledge base, passion for working with kids and a great sense of humor, has given him the right skills and characteristics to be an outstanding leader. Responsibility, accountability, and integrity are his main sources of inspiration and he feels that if students are expected to have these traits then his staff members definitely should. He has done a great job of holding staff accountable while also providing them a means of improvement. His efforts have been well received by most staff who feel the amount of professionalism is more equitable and the learning environment for the students and teachers alike is now more proactive and positive. He is also an independent thinker who has exceptional abilities to express himself, and to listen to others. He has proven to be a bright and intelligent member of our learning community with great problem solving and critical thinking skills. He also shows a great ability to analyze and synthesize information quickly. His creativity in thought and positive attitude allow for him to collaborate and work towards turning problems into solutions. Nicolaas’s dynamic personality has led to great relationships with all his colleagues and students. He gets along very well with all the staff and students, and people look to him not only for a source of ideas, and leadership, but for a fresh and positive perspective, support, or just a person to have a fun conversation with. His relationships with students are phenomenal. As a soccer coach, past teacher, Secondary Principal and mentor Nicolaas has a tremendous impact with kids academically, emotionally, and morally. Our students really look up to him, like his honesty and sincerity, and love his sense of humor. I feel this is true with all the people in our learning community he has developed relationships with. From students to teachers, from the cleaning staff to our parents, Nicolaas is a person well respected. I recommend Mr. Nicolaas Mostert without reservation as he would be a tremendous asset to any school, organization or institution. His ability to think globally, and turn problems into solutions, as well as his ability to lead others and develop great relationships with all people he works with will be a great value for the school he works at.
